Let’s take a look at what that means and how we get paid.
Being fee only means that we do not sell any products or earn commissions. This removes a large conflict of interest that exists with many advisors who are paid based on sales. Here is how the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) defines Fee-Only.
According to the CFP® Board: At all times when providing Financial Advice to a Client, a CFP® professional must act as a fiduciary, and therefore, act in the best interests of the Client. For a more detailed look at the rigorous ethical standards that a CFP® must maintain click here to read the CFP® Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. You should compare these standards to those of all other Financial Planners you interview. Many people hold themselves out as “Financial Advisors” or “Financial Planners” but not all of them are qualified, or even allowed, to offer Financial Planning services to their clients.
How do we get paid? We charge an initial fee plus a monthly retainer based on your needs and financial complexity. The upfront fee covers the creation of your Comprehensive Financial Plan. The Comprehensive Financial Plan provides you with a snapshot of your total current Financial Health. Here is a breakdown of our Fee Schedule.
